When planning to build a greenhouse, the following greenhouse covering considerations will play a role in the materials selected for the greenhouse. Not all greenhouse coverings are created equal. Each has it's distinct advantages and disadvantages. Going in you need to have a keen idea about the following:

• Durability- How long and under what conditions do you want the film to hold up? Hail? High Winds? Snow Load? Extreme sunlight/ U.V.? There really isn't a "most durable" greenhouse plastic because it depends on the circumstances for a film to be "the most durable greenhouse plastic".
• Budget- the bigger your budget, the better and stronger the covering. Don't be fooled by fancy words about "5 layer technology" or "photoselective" with an inexpensive price.
• Climate- What weather conditions must this greenhouse plastic endure? Heavy snow loads, high winds? 
• Crop failure- What types of damage can your crops sustain should the greenhouse covering be damaged from the weather?
• Warranty- How important is a warranty to you? Is it a full replacement warranty, or a pro-rated warranty?

Evaluate all the pro's and con's of various films and talk to the manufactures. Ask them to compare their greenhouse covering to others on the market. Ask to see their written warranties. With a little research you can make an informed decision.
