What is String Reinforced Plastic?

Are Polymer-matrix composites (PMC) and Fiber Reinforced Plastics (FRP) String Reinforced Plastic Sheeting?

The answer is YES. Manufacturers of plastic sheeting have been adding a string/ skrim/scrim layer to polyethylene since at least the 1950's. By adding the string layer, it adds reinforcement to the plastic so that it can better hold up against wind, tears and other stresses. It makes a substantial difference.

Can String Reinforced film come in various colors?

Yes, string reinforced plastic comes in different colors- some even have white on one side, and black on the other.

Do they ever add additives to this plastic sheeting?

String reinforced poly can have additives such as the fire retardant additive, anit-static, U.V. etc. This adds that much more usability for the plastic.

What about having the film made into a custom liner?

Scrim reinforced plastic can be custom made to a certain color. grommets, hem, and drains can be added as well.

Does the thickness vary?

Just like non-reinforced poly, string reinforced poly comes in varying thicknesses. The thicker, the stronger in most cases.
